We all have those days….right???
There are those days (sometimes everyday) that I need a good hot bath. Sometimes it because I am sore from a good workout and other days are because I literally need to wash the day off. Baths are like reset for me. They reboot this operating system. To take a bath from a reset to a full on therapeutic experience, I add baking soda and epsom salt. I keep a mixture epsom salt and baking soda in my bathroom so I can easily add them to a bath as the water runs.
Benefits of Epsom Salt:
Soothes sore muscles
Promotes relaxation
Smooths skin
Reduces inflammation
Benefits of Baking Soda:
Detoxes and alkalizes the body
Absorbs heavy metals
Exfoliates and smooths skin
Soothes itching and skin irritation
A soak of at least 20 minutes all the way to one hour is recommended to maximize the effects of epsom salt and baking soda. For increased benefits I add about 10 drops of essential oil to the water such as lavender, sage, eucalyptus or lemon. I am sure to select essential oils that are pure and have been created in a way that they function as nature intended (therapeutically).
Another fun way to get your epsom salts, baking soda and essential is to make bath bombs. The recipe that I have found to work the best is below:
1 C baking soda
1/2 C epsom salt
1 C citric acid
1/2 C corn starch
1/2 C fractionated coconut oil
Color of your choice
Essential oils of your choice
One more amazing thing I add it to turn on my diffuser and letting therapeutic essential oils diffuse into the air in a way that supports my relaxation. I will post more on how this works but please do try it for yourself if you haven’t already.
Cheers to relaxation, rest and rebooting!
